Scrolling is very sluggish (2.00.02)

Hi,
New Campaign Series player here, I just got my hands on the game.
Yes, I'm aware this is addressed in game FAQ, and I've smooth scrolling and labels disabled, I unticked 3D in scenario scelection menu, but this doesn't make any noticable difference; I play the game with 2D views only. Scrolling with cursor keys, "window edge" or "screen edge" options enabled is super slow and unberable. The only somewhat usable but not very convienient way of scrolling is with scroll bars.
This is with a pretty beefy PC (Ryzen 9 5900x 12 cores, 4.20GHz, 64GB RAM and NVidia RTX 4080 GPU), which suggests that the old engine of this game is most likely single-threaded and not making use of any extra cores. But even with that in mind, 4.2GHz CPU should be plenty for the 2D top-down view and the simple graphics of the game... For what it's worth, WDS games (which, as far as I can tell, originate from the same engine, and I've a bunch of them) don't have such performance issues when scrolling.
Is this something the developers can look into and improve?
Thank you
