[FIXED] B1645 Increased use of CPU and GPU compared to 1567

While 1645 gets the best benchmark result in my laptop, noticed a higher use of the fans in the last version, so compared 1645 to 1567 in a low AU count scenario, SSBN, 1963.
This is the % (rounded) of CPU and GPU (both Intel and nVidia) usage in the task manager running the save, a plotted course for the sub. But I do not think is plotting related, the noise from the fans difference is noticeable just loading the scenario.
Code: Select all
CPU Intel nVIDIA
1645 55 25
1645 65 20
1567 28 20
1567 30 15
- Significant increase in the CPU usage.
- Much less significant but also present in both GPUs.
- Also seems strange to me that the % of GPU usage is bigger for the nVidia than the Intel in both cases, should not be the contrary if it is more powerful?

Without having run a benchmark test with this version, it feels as it it runs much smoother now

As commented above the benchmark was the best so far in my laptop.
However the noise coming from the fans is more noticeable, so looked at the task manager and the CPU usage has increased.
Perhaps it is WAD

WAD. More simulation features and checks, and more parallelized GPU pipeline.

OK, thanks for answering.

If you allow me another observation. This time without loading any scenario, just running the game, the map is only borders and coastline as in the above post, close the menu and minimize.
The difference in CPU and GPU usage In the task manager after a few seconds.

Minimizing CMO should not reduce the CPU use to a minimum?
Is it related with webview? They cause the (6), but is Command.exe what is consuming CPU %

Okay, re-opening this.

There was a bug that forced the map rendering to happen even if the main window was hidden or minimized. Fixed for the next update (after B1676).

Since the update on Steam of today my CPU fluctuates between 85 to 90% when I start CMO. No Scenario loaded yet.
It stays at this level when playing a scenario. No exemption log has been made.
Anyone else having weird reactions?

So is it already official in steam?
Which is your CPU?
Here I see what is displayed in the screenshots above.
15-16% CPU and 40% GPU while idle.
When it was less than 1% in 15xx builds and before.

Checked integrity and now it is fluctuating between 16-22% on idle without scenario loaded
Pfeewww, thats gone.

Well, I hope that the build after 1674 will mean back to less than 1% while idle (both CPU and GPU).
And a benchmark below 1000 ms (in my laptop).
Crossed fingers

Updated the post above with a pic of the new version B1706.
The high GPU usage is fixed. Edit: when minimized. But is still too high for only borders and coastlines when not?
The high CPU remains the same, I would prefer below 1% like it was before, but if you consider it WAD...

There is a separate tweak coming in the future about the CPU loop.

There is an improvement here in B1859
CPU use is reduced by a 50% when idle.
In B1852 it was still the same.
GPU use is only 0% when minimized, like in the screenshot.
