I have been playing a lot of the 1st Ukranian Front.
In general I am impressed by the AI.. but..
Has anyone else noticed that
a) The German AI is not blowing up as many bridges as it should?
b) The Russian AI is wasting its engineers on cobat instead of repairing the many bridges I blow up?

When I played as the Russians, the AI was blowing up bridges like crazy. As you know, there's no guarantee that blowing up a bridge will succeed. I wonder if unsuccessful bridge attempts by the enemy still make noise?
I guess it's also possible the ai gives too high a priority to the engineer's life versus sticking around and blowing up a bridge . . .

Pretty sure that you hear the sound of the detonator box even if the bridge does not blow when the Ai is doing it just like when you do it.

I would tend to agree that the AI doesn't seem prioritise bridge activity much. I count this as a blessing. My human opponents can't leave them alone

What difficulty setting is that?
I'm playing 1st Ukrainian Front right now and the AI is blowing every d*mn bridge he comes across..

Hmm... I haven't been able to verify it, but it does seem like the AI won't blow bridges as fast if he's under pressure. If you let him retreat in good order, they will go sky-high though...
Anyone else experienced the same?

Playing the Russians in the campaign the German AI is doing a good job of blowing bridges - on one attempt by turn 5 Shpola had three bridges blown in that vicinity alone.
Why aren't you guys playing the campaign btw - isn't that the beauty of a regimental sized system?
And yes, regardless of success you do hear a plunger sound when the AI attempts to blow a bridge. Nice touch - waiting for the explosion and the blue dot brings a cringe every time.

Yeah, I like that effect. Adds something to the game.
I seldom see where the bridge is blown though. By the time I hear the explosion the screen has moved on to the next unit and that unit is moving around so I never know where the bridge is blown only that it has been blown.
