I always loved military fiction. Tom Clancy and Red Storm Rising is my favorite novel, but I've read it too many times already to read it again.

Anyone got any good books on modern warfare?

I just got a copy of "Heights of Courage" by Kahalani, but its only available in paperback and I prefer audiobooks now so that I can take advantage of work commute and exercise time.

"Tanker wars" by Zatarain is another good one that I read as well as as "Sink the Belgrano" by Rossiter was another one I enjoyed. They are both nonfiction, but the insight and detail that each goes into is very interesting to read.

I've tried reading Joe Buff's books, but I found them too cheeky, unbelievable, and contrived.

If any have any recommendations post them here.

Thanks, I'll give them a try. I do like the land battles too, however. You know what they say. The purpose of naval warfare is always to influence the situation on the ground.

Not just inspired by Command, but based on a long running and massive user-made campaign for Command, an alternate history timeline where the August Coup of 1991 succeeds, the (first) Cold War doesn't end, and WW3 happens in Feb 1994.

That novel covers the background to the war as well as about the first 24 hours of conflict on the Northern Front (Norway & the North Atlantic).

It's one of the best fiction stories I've read.

Command's capacity for Land Warfare is very limited, so I deliberately concentrated my library list there for what Command models effectively.
