CPU goes to max

My CPU goes to max percentage when CMO is loaded and stays at that level.
No scenario is loaded. Just the start screen.
This happened after modifying to 1.08 on Steam.
I had this problem earlier when using Beta 1.08 and it disappeared when I went back to the previous built.

I did check the files integrity: all good
These are some hints from the Exception log:

It does use and recognise the GPU

Me too , I have an increase in CPU and GPU values since the start screen of the new version of the game. I noticed it from the abnormal noise volume of the fans...

CPU: around 14%
Memory: 9%
GPU: 35%

Exception log: no errors report

My PC specifics: i7-12700KF, 32 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Mine is a bit higher...88% or more, depending what is open next to CMO.
It can't get any higher... :(

Is this still happening in B1706 ?

Memory: 12%
GPU: 35%

15-20% is pretty normal and has been the typical for CMO/CMNAO for years.

Should not be when CMO is idle.

CMO is never quite idle. Most games consume some resources even if not in focus. Its that way for most games I play. Been that way since CMNAO. The OP's 88% is a different issue.

Yes of course, not 0%.

With the recent changes cannot run build 15xx anymore, but this was the task manager here with build 1567 idle.

Now is very different, 16%. Perhaps related with Webview.

I also think that GPU utilization is too high, it was fixed when you minimize or run the benchmark, but still a 40% when not, is it not too much?

This has been my typical experience at idle with a scenario loaded.

Pity the GPU was cut in the screenshots :) It would be interesting to compare with a full 3D game like Sea Power.

So CMANO also had this problem?

I am not sure I consider it a problem. I have never looked at the GPU. Not bothering at this point.

Again, the OP's issue is different 88% is crazy.

Yes, we are spamming the thread.

Blast33 error was an exception. Not the normal/abnormal idle use.

I noticed the high CPU/GPU utilization when the first 16xx beta was out in this forum, just by the noise of the fans, it was quite different compared to 15xx and previous builds.

Anyway Dimitris said the next beta should improve the CPU.

Since others already derailed this thread...

One thing to try on the GPU side is FPS limiters and power settings. I limit CMO to 20 FPS. This is more than enough for a somewhat static 2D game. Thats also ignoring Tacview. I have always run it on my travel laptop in low power mode to limit heat and CPU load. Thats a habit left over from the CMNAO days.

The latest Steam variant at this moment is 1676.
So I downloaded B1706 and unfortunately no change.

Maybe I need a clean install.
There was a thread about this but I can't find it on the forum. Does anybody have a link how to install? Or does Steam automatically upgrade CMO to the latest standard?

Just for completeness, after realizing I had left CMO running a scenario in my post, I am including CMO at idle and showing the GPU load on a laptop 4090. The CPU is an i9 and is around 7% loaded. This is at the laptop's lowest power setting.

Screenshot 2025-07-11 074130.jpg
Screenshot 2025-07-11 074130.jpg (260.09 KiB) Viewed 181 times

And here is the GPU load with CMO at idle...4%

Screenshot 2025-07-11 074011.jpg
Screenshot 2025-07-11 074011.jpg (224.76 KiB) Viewed 181 times

btw, Sea Power at idle with Don't Mess with Texas loaded as a scenario is around 8% CPU and 89% GPU on the same laptop running about 60 FPS.

Thanks for the tests.

But you know, not everyone's laptop features a 4090 GPU.

4060 laptop here, and is using a 35% while idle, map just with borders and coastlines and not minimized.

When minimized is 0%, that bug was fixed.

CPU is 16% also i9.

This means a noisy laptop, that I hates :(

And happened in 16xx and now 17xx, not before.
