When editing a Flightplan, it seems to be impossible to add a specific doctrine to a waypoint. The dialog box opens, but i cannot click-select any dropboxes. Is that just me doing something wrong?

You are right, it is broken.
And the window cannot be closed with errors in the exception log.

What do you mean adding doctrine to a waypoint? Was this ever possible before!? LOL

I'm pretty sure I used to set ROEs differently for strike mission waypoints in both flight plans and direct paths. In fact, I just did one with direct path. But OP is correct. The ROE screen never populates flight plan waypoints.

I'm also not seeing any errors from trying to open it in my scenario.

Can you close the window?

Its a pity because from the manual...
"The buttons along the base of the flight plan editor allow for
the inserting of waypoints, deletion of waypoints, editing the
various properties and times of the waypoints and items such as
doctrine and sensor usage."

Ok, it will hang if you click on the tab "Withdraw & Redeploy..." and then the errors appear.
You will have to restart CMO.

It is very unfortunate indeed

that I don't use to read manuals cover to cover but rather use the as reference material. Basically, I have played with all this except sensors (mission parameters seem sufficient for this purpose as they allow to turn radars on at IP) and doctrine (never realised it was an option - which I understand it isn't as I type these lines)

And that is why devs put a lot of effort into manuals. You should at least crack it now and then on a game as complex as CMO. Its why you ask a lot of questions. A lot can be self-service if so motivated.

I also learn by trial and error, and use the manual as reference.
Ask as much as you want, I also learn a lot from the questions posted in the forum, what is it for if not?

There is a point where you should be at least be making an effort to use the resources provided. Why bother having a manual when you can just pop into the forum and ask someone else to do the work for you. There are very complex things about CMO that justify very much asking questions. There's a lot of splitting hairs to get things to work the way you want. Getting at those things is a great use of the forum. But asking basic questions without ever using the resources provided is a disservice to people who want help and and who want to help. And its a disservice to the people that put great effort into documentation.
Curiosity is something you need to even start the process of mastering CMO in any form. But curiosity has to have some level of looking for answers on your own first. Curiosity is not expecting other people, devs or players, to do the work for you. The official manual, the community manual, and the search function are the best way to start to learn first and foremost. And to satisfy curiosity.

Yes of course, but manuals are used for reference, how many people have read it fully? A handful, if any.
I think there are questions and answers of varied difficulty that may be asked and answered by different people. If you are experienced, avoid basic questions.
The search function is indeed very useful right now, compared with the old forum that was completely broken.

Just take a look at some of the questions coming up. Many could be answered just by using search in the PDF manual. And if I'm going to use flight plans, why would you not go in and look at it and figure out what all the buttons and options are for? Thats exactly what I'm talking about.
I have no expectation that everyone reads the manual. I also have no expectation that everyone has any natural curiosity and wants to learn. But there are some very basic things you have to learn and eventually know. Flight planning in particular can be simple of complex. But knowing the basics of its is a key starter. And getting to some of those means actually looking in the manual now and then.
