Flamers that early in the war were often/mostly subordinate to the "Chemical" units, but in case of the Cavalry I do not see the flamers listed...

08/1941 +Guards 09/1941

The initial idea was as it seems to simply use the old TOE and just scrap some TOE-numbers/parts of it.

TOEs
07/3 HQ-Staff (115Men)
07/4 Cavalry Regiment (940Men)
07/5 Tank squadron (34Men)
06/104 Ind. Riding Artillery Battalion (633Men [8+8])
06/105 Ind. Artillery-Park (143Men)

Resolution
dated August 9, 1941 No. GKO-446SS

About the States of the Rifle and Cavalry Division

[...]

2. In the cavalry division:

a) Enter the state of KAV. Divisions in each saber platoon 1 - 50 mm mortar, having them in the composition of CAVs. regiment 16 and in the cavalry division of 48 - 50 mm mortars.

As part of each KAV. The regiment has a battery containing 6 82 mm mortars, and in total in the Cavalry Division have 18 - 82 mm mortars;

b) 50 mm mortars KAV. Divisions have on packs, and 82 mm mortars in carts.
  • AT Guns (6→12)
Here the tale of the missing AT-Guns begins and continues on. All infos show 12 AT-Guns being authorized but somehow the current TOEs only have 6.
  • PTRD (0)
PTRDs are to only add to TOEs from 12/1941 onwards. (until someone knows actual orders adding them/amending TOEs)
  • 82mm Mortar
An Amendment added 18x on 9th August 1941 (see quote).
Either apply this to both (Regular+Guards) or only to the Guards TOE from 09/1941.
  • Tanks
Supposedly never rly implemented at this point, so can be left out.
  • Flamethrowers
I do not know what they are sopposed to represent.
    Sappers?
    Chemical Defence?
    Corps assets?
    Other "unknown" flame/AT means?
    other...? (need hints/help/info on that)

07/1942 +Guards+Corps (previous TOE with Amendments)

See BArch RH 2/2520 p.151ff
From 20.11.1942 (+some other strentgh reports):
06/230 HQ-Staff (96Men→now 80Men sometimes?)
06/231 Communications Halve-Squadron (53Men)
06/216 Chemical Defense Squadron (64Men) - 15.5.42 Shtat No. 07/6 changed to 06/216 (both 64Men)
...or...07/6 Chemical Defence Squadron (64Men)
...or...17/6 (numbers vary due to probably bad readability/typos)
06/233 Cavalry Regiment (now 1160-1176Men)
06/214 Artillery (was reduced to 4+8 is 496Men)
06/105 Ind. Artillery-Park (143Men)
06/217 Recon Battalion (353Men) - only added ~09/1942 or so
06/215 AA Battery (80Men)
06/220 Medic Squadron (50Men)
06/241 Divisional Veterinarian (25Men)
06/222 Prosecutor's Office (4Men)
06/212 Pioneer Squadron (70Men)
06/238 Supply Column (48Men)
+ 10Men Repair Workshop for shoemaker/tailor

  • AT Guns
It continues the AT Gun 6 vs 12 guns.
  • AA
37mm Flak most sources highlight +6 but I have also seen some weird Intel reports giving other numbers (e.g. also including AAMGs, only 4x37mm and so on)).
  • Recons
One Squad needs to be removed (I think) from the Recon Battalion (I do not have the actual TOE/SubTOE of this formation).
Some reports indicate the addition of Regimental Recons.
  • PTRD
The PTRD is either correct or needs to be 76 (again, I can't explain why the Recon battalion would only have 4 instead of 6 PTRDs).
  • Flamethrowers
I still have no clue where alle the Flamethrowers are comming from or what they are based on (Help needed)....
    Sappers?
    Chemical Defence?
    Corps assets?
    Ampoulets?
    other...?
  • Sappers see pic
All should have gotten this, but only Guards got it (CttRA), later that year it was again tried to get such an Sqadron into each Division but it seems to have failed again. So it stays a "Guards only".
GUARDS
Occasionally a 4th Regiment is referenced and exists.
I also have seen additional 120mm. It is possible that some "Corps Artillery" was actually/officially authorized to the Guards TOEs.
This Source states "(guard cavalry division - 6703 people and 6908 horses)". I unfortunately can not access his Source in the presidential library, so not sure what the Source says.

Per RH/2 2520 image 111 the Recon Bn of the 2nd CavDiv was replaced by a Recon squadron in early 4/43. Bn was 353 men per 06/217. Squadron size could not be properly determined but cloth and equipment requests were for 112 people (current strenght of the squadron).

Regarding mix of Labor (Sapper) and Flamethrower squads - I believe the Cav Divs were the only soviet units retaining a small offensive-capable Engineer content throughout the war.
All other unit types had those removed/withdrawn to rebuild the branch after suffering catastrophic losses in summer 41. In early 43 we have them back as assault sapper squads in their specific units as Army (Support) troops.
