CONQUEST - TERRAN FRONTIER WARS: RETURN TO TERRA (Human Faction DLC Campaign)

This has become far bigger than I every had in mind - and it took way more guts and will than I expected!
Conquest:Terran Frontier Wars - Return to Terra is a custom build Human campaign that adds a real proper Sol-System to the Galaxy, 120+ Research Projects split among all races, 30+ new events, 1 custom Government, 36+ new components, 10+ new ship types, 6+ Planetary Facilities, 6+ new Stations, 1 new creature type, 9 new Orb Types, a new ressource and 13 troops and almost all race specific components have additional levels to them.
AI races a considerably stronger this time around and the player is provided with a fair amount of tools and roleplay elements to help create a sense of achievement and a memorable game experience.
It is also the only Distant Worlds 2 mod as of today to actively change something important in the static Galaxy after its creation during regular gameplay.
Its also the only Mod (as of time of release) to add proper story events to the game! Events that lead to the Return to Terra with extended lore and some discoveries!

Will be interesting to look at, next time I play. Though I'm not sure I'll be a fan of warp speed nerf.

I have downloaded Return to Terra and played a little. Enjoying it so far. I am particularly delighted to be able to control mining ships.

...just remember to deactivate
automatic hull upgrade or it will be a mess

There should be no relevant issues.
I reloaded the game endless times and spent endless hours testing functionalities before uploading.
Game crashed on me 100+ times, its hard work

and sometimes frustrating but it can be done.
Any issus coming up might be vanilla related but for that I flagged all races playable so you can access them in the game editor.

the 2 things holding you back making a great mod is your negativity and unwillingness to put in real effort.
Bethesda updates breaking Sykrim & Fallout mods for 15 years now, yet...they are still there

I am fascinated by controlling mining ships and would like to use it in the vanilla game too. I have changed governments.xml to permit this for some governments but that does not seem to do the trick. Can you tell me what I am missing?

The game uses static data and everything is hardwired into the savegame.
This has advantages - like being able to play really old savegames - and disadvantages - like for any change to take effect you need start a new game !

Yes I know that and have started a new game several times but it makes no difference: mining ships remain stubbornly independent. If making that change to one xml file is all that is needed then I must have made a mistake somewhere else, somehow.

I think I have got the hang of it now. Here is a simple mod to give control of mining ships. It applies to democracy, republic, monarchy, technocracy, feudalism, mercantile guild and military dictatorship. I believe it will work for all the original races but not the ones in the DLCs. I usually play as humans and I become frustrated with the lack of names for the characters who appear in the game. There is very little variation and exactly the same name crops up quite often for two different characters. All right you can name them yourself but you have to do a lot of re-naming in the average game and I find it monotonous. The game only lists 26 possible surnames but I have expanded it to 123 so duplication is now very rare. I have left forenames alone as many cultures have a limited number of them it seems to me. I have tried to make the new names keep the general tone of the existing ones but whether I have succeeded is really a matter of opinion. Here is the link:

Mortalen Suitability – observed Mortalen expansion almost always lackluster
Sandy Desert +5 = +15
Rocky Desert +5 = +35

Rail Guns - medium rail guns could not be researched by Human
Re-enabled medium rail guns as some players prefer them over Hail Cannons for their own reasons.
Independents – too easy targets for conquer and initiate a “super faction” that make the game less interesting
No longer provide race bonus to their conquerors and all 4 are now resistant/rebellious to assimilation.
Missiles & Torpedo’s
Ships firing large salvos of Missiles or low ROF Torpedo’s at fighters wasting firepower.
Missiles & Torpedo’s have their PD ability removed, including race specific Missiles & Torpedo’s if applicable.
Exploration Ships
Terran Exploration ships cannot equip Long Range Sensors. No more Long-Range Sensor spam.

2,5% bigger hull to account for Fleet Modules, higher resource and money cost, now with real command ship bonus to Scan Range/Scan Evasion/Scan Focus.
Planetary Facility – Solar Sector Administration Complex
Can only be built on Terra. Increase max Influence cap, Bonus to Influence rate, Facility build speed & maintenance,
Colony Corruption Reduction, Happiness & Development- Corruption Reduction Range: 2M = Sol System
New Consul elected
Now has a 50% of a positive trait, Character dismissal chance from 10% down to 5%.
