Suggestion...darker shade icons option

An idea...

It might be helpful to add a "dark shade icon" option. The issue is that most of the map layers are relatively dark, so the current icons show up very well. However, with some of the maps, like OpenTopo map and the shallow regions of the Relief map, it becomes very difficult to see the icons. The contrast between the map and the icon is not sufficient.

The solution may be to add an extra set of icons with somewhat different colors. Some experimentation would doubtless be necessary to find the best contrast, but I'm guessing darker shades of green, blue, orange, and red would work pretty well...yellow would be tricky, but some kind of mustard color might work, or maybe gray or brown or olive.) Players could switch between the different sets of icons as necessary, depending on which map they were using.

Thanks for considering this idea.

Fully agree. I wish to use topo, but the water is nearly the same color as my icons...

IIRC there is an option in "Game Options --> Map Display" to use (or not) black outlines on icons....? Does this help?

Only a little, unfortunately. (One issue is that the cyan blue for friendly units is pretty close to the color used for water in the OpenTopo maps and the coastal water in the Relief map. Even the green and the yellow can be hard to spot, depending on the location in the map.) And the outlining doesn't look very sharp, it's sort of smudgy, in my opinion. It may be too thin to provide enough contrast. It's easy for the icons to get lost in the clutter.
