Elementary question warning:

When does daytime begins and ends in the game? This is relevant for some aircrafts that they cannot operated during night time, but I did not find anything specific in the manual

My experience in historical scenarios is that the sim is generally in line with historical data I can look up. So if I'm planning to, let's say strike Lagos on August 20, 1985 at dawn, I just google sunrise time in Lagos on that date.

Just noticed there is a bug in B1706 in the day/night text of the data block, is there not?

I don't even know what the text you are referring to is :-)

I am just playing Baltic Fury 2 and I have some Russian bombers that are not night capable. And I just want to set the take off time correctly.

The text of the data block with latitude/longitude, elevation/depth, terrain and weather.

Also has an indication of the local time with day/night and dusk/dawn.

Do you see this bug in the last build?

Thanks for helping noticing this on the data block. 1706 seems to work just fine.

The video is using B1706.

Notice the difference in B1662. Night all the way as you move eastward, local time is 01:xx. While in B1706 you may see night and day changing several times as the cursor is moved.

I wonder if you overlay time zones across the map, you might find a correlation. It doesn't change night/day, but might screw up CMO's interpretation of it as time zone exceptions are not considered.

I do not know, will create a bug report.

Edit: it is already in the tech support subforum, no bug report needed?

I think this is the solution :

Place the cursor on your base or CAP point near Baghdad and check the data block: local time and Day/Dusk/Night.

Move the cursor to a nearby area that is already Night and note the local time.

Subtract the time at your point from the time in the night zone → approximate remaining daylight.

Example 1 – Base: 16:00 Day in Baghdad, nearby zone Night 20:00 → ~4 h of daylight.
Example 2 – CAP: arrival at CAP at 18:00 Day, nearby zone Night 22:00 → ~4 h of daylight to patrol before nightfall.

Useful for planning takeoffs, landings, or daytime CAPs without advancing the time..

You are right after all. In B1706 it is indeed inconsistent

I noticed this today. It goes from day at 1am to night, and back to day, in Al's "Vengeance" scenario. I believe that it does it in all/most of the scenarios.

For me, the day/night text of the data block updates correctly on Build 1706 as long as the simulation is running. The strange errors occur when the simulation is paused.

I just started the Aegean Live DLC and after an hour, the datablock was still toggling periodically between night/day as I scrolled across the map. Zooming in seems to reduce the toggling slightly.

I just tested it again, and the "day/night/day/night" thing occurs every time I swipe the mouse across the screen, even at short distances.
