if the UK puts a full corps in Narvik, what would it take to get them out?

Lots of airforce, an armor, 2-3 corps and a blockade.

The will give up on Narvik as soon as you land in UK and start shipping troops over. :)

The Axis should have troops at sea near Narvik on the turn they occupy Oslo. If the UK sends ships then you will have losses most likely. Otherwise it is a walk in the park.

Shouldn't even be invading Norway at all. No strategic value except for attacking Soviet Lend Lease which you can do from Finland.

Don’t you get PPs for occupying Norway?

You get their 5 resources + securing the Swedish line.

The Allies can attack Norway to cut the line but it is pointless because the cut is only in winter months. The Germans can hold the 5 PP resource in the south much easier than the Allies can take it due to supply issues

I think it is debatable. The 5PP in Norway is only 1 PP (rounded down) for the Axis (per turn) however the Swedish iron is worth 25PP/turn which adds up to 150PP loss (or gain) in the winter months yearly if I calculate correctly. (Is the Narvik route used 3 or 4 months in every year?)

Sweden ore is only blocked in winter months if the Allies control Narvik

If I am not mistaken, I believe the Ore route will be stopped in winter if any costal or beach hex adjacent to the route is allied controlled.

yes. Norway is a tricky country to get right in a WW2 game

so, to clarify

if i invade norway and the allies take narvik, i lose the iron ore for 3-4 months

but if i never invade norway, there will be no interuption?

Correct. Really in no WW2 game is invading Norway a good idea except Third Reich because Norway isn't showing,

In fact the Allies didn't invade Norway because the Germans had 200,000 soldiers there doing absolutely nothing.

That's about 12-15 German divisions that could have been used elsewhere.

If the Allies invade them you get a Norway special unit, their boat, their merchant marine.

never even considered not invading

iron ore convoy shows "blocked'"

good food for thought

Can someone confirm it please?

If that is the case it really does not make sense to take Norway. Your Swedish ore is secure for a few years. Or if the allies invade Norway (as long as you have Denmark) - even better...
