Very Impressed

I just picked up ToS: WS about 2 days ago, and I wanted to say that I've been having a lot of fun playing it. I loved the old Battletech board game when I was younger, and this game is just as fun as that, if not more. The turn system was a little confusing at first, but after my 2nd shot at the tutorial (and a quick trip to these forums), I got the hang of it and now I really like it. The time slicing is very well done. I'm also impressed with the level of interaction that the developers have with their customers on this forum. Its quite rare, so its a pleasure to see. Its even more nice to see them not getting flamed by immature 16 year-old players. :)

All in all, its good to see games with real quality being released these days; all the graphics in the world won't save a crappy game.

Oh and one more thing that y'all may like to hear: I picked up the game up in my local Electronics Boutique, and the clerk remarked to me that the game had been selling quite well. After I bought my copy, there were only 2 left in the store, when they had gotten in around 6 or 7 originally. Considering that there has been no advertising or reviews (well, there's been 1), I think that says a lot about the game. I hope it continues to do well.

Now I just gotta convince my friend who picked up Korsun Pocket to grab this one as well. ;)

Javin, the regulars seem to be quiet this morning, so let me say howdy and welcome in this thread, too.

Lots of extra content available to download, as well as getting all your questions answered.

Good luck getting your friend to play this one too!

Thank you sir... I think I may have convinced another friend of mine (who's not even much of a TBS gamer!) to go out and buy it. :)

Oh and I'm working on a Warhammer titan. So far I've got a decent design going, but it has serious problems with heat. Of course, I think that was a huge problem with Warhammers in Battletech anyways. At least whenever i used one, I'd go nuts with the PPC's. The plasma gun is basically the same as the PPC, right? It sure feels close.

Javin, the most enjoyable way to play the game is with human allies or opponents. (Two allied humans against two AIs with lower skills is most fun .. less chance for resentment than human vs human, more chance for swapping tactics and learning co-ordinations.) Incidentally, I've come to feel that co-ordination of the titans in your team is a most important side of the game .. especially when they are of different weights. It can be fun to have your recons run around a hill to hit your enemy from behind while the assaults are thudding towards each other.
Have you got ICQ?

Yep, thats correct. I love the Plasma Gun since it feels like a PPC and because it has the best sound effect in the game.

In fact, I know many people favor cannons, and I certainly understand and appreciate their usefulness, but, coming from a long background of linked campaigns, where things like running out of ammunition become critical, my squad is almost entirely energy weapons, with some GM for fire support and indirect fire.

It matches my style of play, so its effective for me. PG's for long range firepower, CLG's for short range, EMP's to mess 'em up, and BRG's to knock 'em down.

I'd just like to say (to anyone who will listen) that I totally agree with Javin. I used to play Titans v1.4, and just received my copy of TOS:WS yesterday.

It was well worth the cost and wait... especially the wait. ;) The graphics are a superb improvement, as are the sound effects and music track. Also, it maintains the playability of v1.4. A fine job done all around.

As of my second game (I know, I know... I really should withold judgement until further experience) I've encountered no bugs or qualms... most of my "problems" have to do with adjusting to new graphics; no big deal. And not enough to effect my opinion of the game.

I look forward, with great eagerness, to big explosions and assault titans!

PS. The "Wait on Weapon Recycle" option is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, except for jumping backwards. :)

You could wait on weapon recycle in 1.4 too, just push "x".

I got WS lastnight, finally. It's not bad. :D

I'm not on it often, but I do have it. Added it to my profile.
