The button is still in the game and they are also still in the manual. So will they ever return or are they gone for good?

Do you mean ship-to-ship missiles? These have to be unlocked through technology research and should generally be available in the later stages of the game, starting 50s to 60s. Are you seeing otherwise? Do you have saves that show this?

Oh yeah sorry I got the abbreviation wrong. I ment Light surface to surface missiles. The button in the designer for it exists and it is also referred to in the manual however those were removed before launch from what I could gather. Now only medium and heavy ones exist
