It seems the units like to run away instead of surrendering. What happens to them if I leave them alone in the jungle? will they just die out, so do I have to march something to fight them?

need more info, what side? what type of unit? coastal jungle?

Allied units, mostly engineering. some coastal, some not.

I can tell you exactly what the problem is according to the picture that you did not post.

It sounds like you are in the early years of your campaign. It can take quite a while, but unsupported units that have escaped to the jungle will likely wither away and die, unless they are in an area where they might possibly march to safety (say, Burma or a coast where they can be rescued by submarine or flying boat).

Dutch and UK units that flee into the interior jungles of Borneo usually starve into "dispersal" with time. However, you can speed up the process a little by having your air squadrons use them for bombing practice.
