I'm playing the Germans in this battle for Hill 112 southwest of Caen, starting on July 9. Caen is still the scene of a vicious fight for control, and the British are tasked with taking the commanding Hill 112.
There are two Panzer Divisions holding Caen and Hill 112, with 2 divisions in reserve. Two Infantry divisions hold the western flank.

1st turn
British 7th Corps has two brigades of the 43rd Infantry across the Odon River attempting to move up Hill 112, along with two battalions of armor.
The German 12th SS Panzer is defending the hill and counter-attacks.

Note the difference between basic odds and final odds. The key difference is the effect of support, weaponry, morale, command. Those are easy to discern by simply hovering the cursor over the odds shift text, which gives a quick popup of what the shift factors were.

One odds shifter factor was air-ground support. Included in that was one shift when I include the German Ace Emil Lang as part of the ground support action.
And the attack German units had a greater shock value.

Part of that superior shock value can be easily viewed by looking at the actual units involved in the attack:
