Fantabulous!

I only just noticed this, and I love it! Even though I know nothing about the Spanish Civil War.
A re-implementation of the WitP-AE engine or concept was not even remotely on my bingo card, but it is most definitely on my bucket list.
This is clearly a PoC. Start with a small sandbox and then go wide. Exactly the right way to do it. I would bet money on this getting expanded to various other areas of the Med (just look at the map), and then presumably over time to other theatres.
Presumably the 5nm hex size will not be hard-coded.
Thanks guys

The team has been working hard for years to get this game to the point it is at now. And by the way, the game engine is a hundred percent brand new....GP

Agree with the OP completely.
The SCW is such an under represented theatre in serious wargames (the treatment of it in Panzer Campaigns 2 was a war crime in itself

).
Will there be any political " events" to simulate the very fluid politics of the various regional and political factions and if so will there be any variance in those events or will they be tied very closely to historical timelines and outcomes ?
Huge anticipation !

The units from the different political factions are in the game, but the game is very historical in its diplomacy: The Nationalists and Republicans have their allies and enemies established from the start and they will not change during the gameplay.
Infighting within the republican side doesnt affect battle scenarios or the main campaign. But the main campaign will feature historical events to set the scene and explain the background of the war.
Besides, the game has an event editor, which can be used to "complicate" politics as much as you want... at your own risk

Many thanks for the response.
As someone who is not into wired in Alt history designs in games such as this I am extremely reassured by your answer.
Although I have read a few books on the subject including Paul Preston's fairly partisan account the explanatory pop ups are also good and will provide great flavour I am sure.

I Agree. I haven't been excited about a game in a long time. I was so surprised to see that it is inspired by the WitP-AE engine. Looking forward to getting this game.
