i may be missing something here but i cannot seem to find enemy fleets and have a battle.

what are tricks or tips here?

ive tried using single subs to locate and sometimes they have a battle. this happens more often than if i group the subs up. but if i want to go after and kill enemy fleet, when i use my main fleet i always get unable to pursue. so i can never get fleets to find enemy to engage. Even though my subs had engaged the enemy at same hex.

can anyone let me know why my main fleets are just not able to have an engagement?

Farther they are from your shore line the harder it is to find them. Look at Google maps. Go to the middle of the Atlantic. It is massive. Finding anything out there in WW2 was almost impossible.

Note it took the 1/2 the royal navy to find the Bismarck AND they got lucky.

You want to find them send out small fleets to search. Often you wont find but you will get +1 +1 +1 which increases the chance you will spot them the next search. Close to your shoreline you find them very easily.

I had found them. my subs spotted them and confirmed 3 ships. 1 Cv and 2 BB in med. but when i try and engage with them it always says pursuit unsuccessful. nw many how many times i try this wit a full fleet or if i use 3 smaller fleets . its getting really annoying now. because enemy always able to engage my fleets but i cant to them. i have 2 hexes showing in med for Uk sub. but they never move. been there like many many turn. unlike mine that have to return to port for supply. even in the med.

The only time i had a fleet engagement is when my Italian fleet was outside French port in med and when i took their city. their fleet came out and engaged mine. it completely sunk all 5 of the French ships which included 2 bb and i had no losses. since then i cant seem to pin down the uk fleets to attack them

any help on how to ensure i can force an engagement would be great to hear or any tips to improve those chances

Have a balanced fleet, use aircraft to hit them first, once spotted it's easier to find.

If they are near your coast it is easy to find them.

If they are near their coast it is not.

French fleet is expendable BTW.

This is for Pacific but there isn't much difference between the 2 games. The spotting and attacking mechanism is the same.
