I've just noticed that all five of the active IJN recon air groups are set to withdraw on the 1st Sept 43, 3 months time. I'm assuming this happened historically but does anybody have any idea why the Japanese would do that, it seems odd.

What do you have for reinforcements coming. There might be replacements for them....GP

Sorry it's not as bad as it first seems, I mis-read the withdrawal screen it's 4 of 5 groups (27 ac) that withdraw in Sept, still a lot and none return. There are two new groups (15 ac) coming in in Oct 43.
This wasn't about the game, but about about why withdrawing all together. Must have been some historical reason why it happened.

Just a guess, but Japan was short of pilots by 1943 and may have decided that using those pilots in fighters was more important than recon. Aviation fuel was also a concern by then - US subs were taking a toll on their tankers.
