Trying to understand supply

New to the game. I understand the overall supply system. I generate supply from towns, that supply goes to the town's attached HQ, and then that gets sent to other units under command.

But there are a few things I do not get:
  • What determine how much and how often supply gets shared to units under a second level HQ? SHQ --> HQ --> UNIT, lets say the HQ is 10 hexes away, and then the unit is another 5 hexes away, how does supply work get shared?
  • How do trains and trucks in a HQ affect the distribution of supply?
I ask this because I have a "moterized engineer" unit that is within supply range, but it's been 3 turns now and their supply is 1. Why?

Hi!

Welcome to the game! :)

Supply is built in locations (cities for instance), and it goes to the HQ that is connected to that city. The supplies are then distributed to the units and HQs that are connected (under the command of) this HQ. The HQs that are then connected to the HQ recieving the supplies, then distribute that as well, and so on...

So it is important not only where a HQ is, but also the distance to that HQ. In your case there is no HQ connected to the unit. You can see that in the box you've put your arrow down to. It says (has no HQ). In other words, it has nothing that sends it supplies :/ ...

Oh,

Forgot to answer the other question. Trucks and Trains in the HQ has no bearing on what gets transferred out of it, when it comes to supplies. It is "free", or rather, the game assumes you have these already.

ooof! I missed that. Thanks that clears it up. Especially the point about trains and trucks.

No problem :) And keep asking, if you run into something :)
