I am trying to bomb this sub.
It is within range. Weather is ok both at the base of the bomber and at target. The bomber is over 50%, 20/20, it has not moved or attacked and USA is at war with Germany.
Yet, I cannot do a bombing run. What am I missing?

Subs can only be attacked next to or on a coast line.

You need to put escorts in the convoy lane.

You can also put patrol groups, CVs, and have aircraft within range of the sub.
This will augment the escort and give it a larger chance of hitting the sub

That is only true for naval units. So far I was able to attack and score hits, even sink submarines on high seas with air units far from the coasts. But for some reason not this time. There are of course escorts allocated on the shipping lane and as you can see I parked DDs and CVS there, too.

I am not getting the "failed to find" message or the no damage message, I am not able to do an attack.

But if this is true why do my subs in the atlantic not next to coast get bombed? they get bombed even when not on enemy supply lane.

my subs are often attacked by enemy when it takes its turn and is recorded in the events log

And like the OP. i have a sub that has not moved for over 20 turns. same spot. i can never find it
