Mini Map

It's too bad we can't make the mini map scroll at the same time as the main map scrolls. Better yet, turn that ability on and off at will. The mini map will jump around the same as the jump map but won't scroll with the main map. Or even make the mini map center on the selected unit.

+1

Another observation (though this might already be known): The Mini Map seems to use quite some resources. Deactivating it (by the top left menu) significantly improves animation speed.
For such a small graphical element this seems to be a bit odd to me (no old hardware, running a new "heavy duty" machine here), maybe Bob could look into the code for the Mini Map?

For the opposite perspective, to me it's a relief that I can scroll the main map while keeping the same orientation on the mini-map. This way I can review the overall situation without losing the current area of focus.

If all I'm doing is scrolling the main map I simply click on the unit that's in the main area of focus and I'm back there. If you've clicked on a new unit where you've scrolled to then you'll have to use the jump map to take you back. What puzzles me is using the jump map takes the mini map to the location you clicked on the jump map. Why does it reposition when using the jump map but not when scrolling?

I would imagine because it is faster to scroll the mini-map.

Yes, this works well, and similarly, if you want the mini-map to move you can click on a unit on the main map and then right click the mini-map. I'm playing around with it as we speak and I can see it being useable both ways.
turn that ability on and off at will.
This would seem to be the best solution, then we can have it both ways. A line in the Opart.ini file, or a more 2020's method, maybe clicking on the border around the mini-map turns the feature on, clicking again turns it off. A good idea for the wish list if development ever resumes.
