How can I use a scientist to crash a research project?

Playing as the Quameno, I want to crash the Fusion Ignition project (currently researched) with a scientist, but for the life of me, I can’t find how to do it! I can crash it with money, but I don't see any way to do it with the scientist.
Of course, nothing in the Galactopedia on how to do it...
I'm playing with v1.3.3.4 Beta.
Any pointers would be appreciated...

Found it! For those who might not know how to do it, there's an "Expend" button in the Scientist's screen:

The button is only available once there's a crashed research project (either through a breakthrough, or by having paid to rush it). So the scientist is not used to rush/crash the project, but to complete it instantaneously! That's a mechanic I had misunderstood.
Of course, nothing in the Galactopedia on how to do it...
