Manual Clarification Please

In section 14.2.4.2 Weapon Repair Points it has a formula for shipyard repair:
Shipyard Size (not capacity but original size) * 20 up to max 300
What does the "not capacity but original size" mean? Maybe it's just that I always play the Allies but I didn't think shipyards expanded like ports.
Thanks

The Japanese can expand shipyards.

If a Japanese SY started out at size 5, it can only be expanded another 5 points in the first expansion. It would then be size 5+(5 unrepaired)=10. It could then be expanded in one turn another 10 points to become size 20 [5 + (15)]. The max expansion in one turn is 100 so if the SY was 140, it cannot be expanded by another 140 to get to 280 - the game would limit it to an expansion of 100 to make it 240 total.

The wording is confusing, never noticed it before. I'd use repair shipyard * 20 and leave it at that.
Here my simple guide.
Weapons have a repair cost, for guns it's based on effect value, for other devices it's a fixed repair cost. E.g. Torps, radar etc. Weapon Repair Points (WRP) are needed to repair all weapons types.
To repair a weapon the ship needs to be in a location were WRP are generated and the number of WRP generated has to be equal to or greater than the weapon's repair cost. These weapon repair points (WRP) are not accumulative over time
Any or all of these three things generate WRP:-
Ports - generate WRP based on their size * 25 (max 250 for a level 10 port) per day.
Repair shipyards - generated WRP at a rate of size * 20 per day. E.g. A size 50 repair yard generate 50 * 20 = 1000 WRP.
Tenders - generate a fixed 250 WRP per day for the class of ship they are intended to support. E.g. An AD won't help repair a BB but an AR will do both.
The basic premise is, the larger it is the more WRP are need so to repair an 18" gun will require a total of 3219 WRP.
