I already have a pretty beefy desktop rig, but need a PC for the road for my frequent travels, where my old tablet can't run a lot of things (such as PC games). Budget is $1000, can be stretched to $1500; want to avoid bloatware if at all possible.

It depends upon where you are located but at this time of year some stores have sales. It may depend upon the country in which you are located and/or if you can arrange shipping. Some companies also give discounts to certain groups as well.

also depends on what games you want to play,

as always the GPU is everything, so no onboard ones, you want a dedicated card in it for a start.

if you buy one that has a chip with a GPU on it and a dedicated card in, you may have issues also, so make sure you can disable the onchip one at least before you buy.

for in the USA area, something like this maybe?

ASUS - TUF Gaming F16 16" FHD+ 165Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7-14650HX - 16GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForcee RTX 5050 - 1TB SSD - Jaeger Gray

$1,299.99

or

ASUS - TUF A16 16" FHD+ Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 260 with 32GB RAM - 1TB SSD - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - PCO Laptop Cooler - Gray

$1,499.00

both from best buy, but there's plenty of other stores and see who got the best deals on in the sales tbh

good luck
