Why is Sprint & Drift implemented at individual unit level only and not at group levels? If would make much sense for CVBG to move in this manner imo

That might be a valuable feature for ASW hunter-killer groups

The escorts sprint and drift so they can use their towed arrays. So they sprint ahead then drift listening.

If you want the group to sprint and drift just plot a course with waypoints and set a speed to each waypoint.

How does one set this up within the task force group? Do I set the speed for the group in general and just tick the sprint and drift for the escorts and they take care of themselves so that they keep up with the group?

Just set a group up and check the formation editor. Watch and learn.

Thanks. I had not realised that there was a S&D tick box there

Experimenting with it just now, it appears that the tickbox in the Formation Editor does not work for the group. The tick goes away as soon as one closes the panel.

No it works for group members. Its disappearing because when you go back in a unit that is doing it isn't selected. If you click on one, you'll see it reappear.

At group level you don't use the formation editor. You just plot a course and edit the waypoints. The manual explains this and I'm sure PG has a video. You could also just try it and see what happens (see woods post above).

You really should watch more of the tutorial and PGat videos. You seem to be missing a lot.

Give me some rope :-) I am only 1 year into the game and its main purpose for me is decompression after work and putting my daughter to sleep. I am sure I am missing much more than what you assume.

If you're carrier is sprint/drifting you're doing it wrong. Escorts sure but carriers shouldn't/would never do that. Carriers are going to go whatever speed they need for flight ops or at a steady cruise speed. Not to mention there's (usually) no need for a carrier to drift because they don't have the sensors for ASW. The escorts are the hunter-killers not the carrier. Argument could be made the Soviets/Russian Kievs are an exception to that rule.

I think you have all the rope you need and more. You continue to ask some questions around info that people have spent a lot of time putting together resources for over the years. You keep asking questions you can get answers to in manuals, community guides, tutorials, and especially PGat videos. And some of the "bugs" you keep reporting are things that if you spent just a little bit of time on, you would see how they work.

Is the game perfect...No. Is it hard to master...Yes. Should you maybe spend a little time trying to answer you own questions with the multitude of resources available...probably. A lot of us have been in that situation of trying to learn and understand CMO, and CMNAO before that. I personally have found using the available resources much more effective than asking a lot of questions and using up good will that might be needed on the truly hard stuff.

Part of the awesomeness of CMO is the learning aspect of it. But you get out of it what you put into more than any game I have played. Unfortunately, there are not many shortcuts to really being effective, except the resources that are available. And there are a lot.

The JMSDF's Izumo, Hyuga, and Shirane-class DDHs are also a potential exception.

For now.
