Question: YakB Auto Cannon vs Leopards

Hi,

so, finishing the Czech campaign, I was keeping an eye on the anti-tank missiles of my helicopters when I realized my helicopters were also destroying quite some Leopards with their autocannons.

Is this normal? I don't see any HEAT or AP value on the weapon, so I 'm not sure how is that working. Is it hitting the tracks maybe?

DIVM, do you happen to have the save file for that turn? Something odd is going on there, as the 12.7 really does not have the pen to take a Leo2 from any aspect.

I attached a zip with the save right before that happened and the one after.

Also, I noticed at least one more helicopter (from the previous wave) that hit Leopards with the 12.7. I was being careful to have them resupply earlier; so that's why maybe the others didn't hit Leopards with the auto cannon, but I'm guessing they would've behaved the same had I keep them in the field.

Thanks for the save. I will test this out this week and see what is going on here.

Hi CapnDarwin, were you able to replicate this?

Cheers

Had a quick look and noted we need to clean up some of the data for WP forces, as this system has two different sets of data that should all be the same. Part of the issue is the logging showing "destroyed" rather than a target being hit/damaged/fallen out. The 12.7 is not blowing up Leopard 2s, but could be getting a soft kill on the tank's track, equipment, weapons, and crew, taking the tank out of the fight. We need to add some entries to the log to better record engagements with the weapons used, and then distinguish between hard kills, hits, misses/no effect of attacks, so players better understand the results of their actions.

Looking deeper, do you happen to have a save around 10am (game time) so I can watch and debug track the action at 10:15 when the Hinds hit the tanks with the 12.7 fire? The Leo2s were hard killed by the 12.7s, and that baffles me. At best, a top shot might cause a fallout, but should not be brewing up those tanks. I have a thought on what might be going on, but I really could use that save to trace the code. Thanks.

I attached the closest turn save to that time, at 09:54. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this file. This issue will be high on my weekend task list.
