Pike, slightly improved. Ditto the Duelist.

Normally I wouldn't have done this, but the Pike has seriously irked me.
So, I yanked out the heat reg, and stepped it down to a heat 1. Replacing the armor in the legs with Millenia, then, gave it heat dissapation greater than it originally had. Stepping down the scanner by a level, I then upgraded the Battle Computer up a couple of levels. That way, starting jocks have a slightly better chance to hit.

Armor protection stayed about the same, lost 1 point CT armor.
still somewhat sucky, but now at least it is slightly more friendly to new jocks, and won't melt down on core maps...

As for the Duelist, the mod was easy. The shield was useless with an engine 1. Ripping that out allowed me to increase armor protection, change the armor in the legs to Millenia increasing heat dissapation a great deal, and install a battle computer.

much more effective, IMHO. Still wouldn't be able to take on a Swift Death in a one on one, but should be much more capable now.

Shrug, I don't know. Maybe I'll keep the changes, or not. On one hand, I feel kinda wrong about messing with the default Titans. OTOH, these designs needed the help.

Trying to decide if I want to go through the list, and seeing anything else I can tinker with.

At first I didn't have much use for the factory module, but I find, as time goes on, that I like spending time here.

You haven't followed Bblue's thread about improving the database? We're working on it. Both titans you mentioned (and all recons and most others) already had those changes made. The revised database will probably be available as xchange files so that custom designs are kept. It'll probably be an unofficial attachment - don't know.

This works with almost all the recons.

DON'T FEEL WRONG! they needed the 'fix'! Anyway it's your game you can change whatever you want :) The 'updated' database Iceman is working on will address this, till then, 'fix' away! Btw.. Iceman posted a 'fix' for the Duellist in another thread 'Bad Titans?', I think? Same general fixes as you made, but with a MAJOR chassis change, R4 -> R1, handling mods went for -10% to +10%, HUGE for inexperienced jocks especially in a titan that wants to charge.

Have at it :) The HR/Millenia trick works on almost all recon and most of the lights, typically anything with a small heat reg. If you deside to play around with this till the 'update' you'll definately start picking up some of the more subtle points of armorering.
As for other things to change.... This is where it gets tricky for me. There's a very wide fuzzy line between what could be called a 'bad' design choice and a different, but still effective, design stratagy. Alot of judgement calls involved; however, I can guarrentee you that there is room for improvement!
