resuming LAN game

I purchased this great game so I can play LAN games with my longtime gaming friend. It took me a while to figure out but have finally found an easy way to connect without having to open ports on my router. The only problem I have found when playing LAN games is how to save and resume previous state of LAN game while at the same time connecting to host computer.

If anyone know how to resume LAN game or knows a good free remote desktop program where both sides can have control over the game it would be greatly appreciated. I first tried Chrome Remote Desktop but CSV is the only game that does not allow remote desktop to allow connecting computer to do anything in the game.

If you want to share your desktop, you can use parsec!

It's pretty good for that. https://parsec.app/

FWIW; here is the LAN-mode description from the John Tiller's Campaign Series manual, I noticed there is a bit more content there than in the current Vietnam manual. There is the one-liner that host player should select a scenario or a previously saved game.

^ if you manage to find a resolution to your question please post here as how you managed to make it work!

I found this thread talking about firewall settings, hopefully it helps. What I recall seeing is the online players have used a VPN to establish a "LAN" among the players to host's computer.
