One square next to terrain map leyend with the info about the symbols in base hexes and device names, something like:
SYMBOLS NEXT TO BASE NAMES
* next to a base name means port or airfield out of ammo, out of fuel .. whatever
! next to a base name means the other thing..
c next to a port natural port
whatever symbol for militarized harbour
etc
.
.
.
SYMBOLS NEXT TO DEVICE NAMES
u next ot a device name means you have upgrades avaliable
F next to a device name foreign captured equipment.
etc
.
.
.
With an small photo/screenshot as example. Next to each of them.
That way you don’t need to check the manual each time one of those “bugs” you, you just go to the upper rigth side of your screen and check. I suppose you would end learning them if you play a lot and check the manual couple hundred times but…

Are you sure that "c" means natural port instead of civilian port as opposed to a military port which can support warships as well?

Well, there are civilian ports and military ports. Once you learn them then you won't need to look them up, just what the difference between the ports is for your military operations!

You can convert a civilian port into a military port but it becomes damaged, requiring engineers and supplies to repair (do the actual conversion of) the the port.

My understanding is that naval ships cannot replenish ammunition for larger weapons at civilian ports. I believe that repair of naval ships at civilian ports is somewhat (severely?) diminished, but I could be wrong there.
