Disable Player control

When you set a unit to "Disable player control", what is the expected level of activity for on map units

I've used this for off-map artillery assets and it works great, but not sure what sort of situations/scenarios its meant to be used with on map units, at first I thought the 'tactical AI' would take control e.g. follow the bread crumbs to use a old phrase but they seem to just sit still only reacting to SOPs

Would be really cool if I could set a BP for them

No BP for non-player units like that. Maybe at some point, but not right now. You've pretty much identified what they'll do. Give them an order in Scenario Editor and they'll follow it. You could probably give them a whole queue of orders and I think it would work? This is a bit of a case of we didn't test that because while I want the feature to be used more and so built it to be flexible, the actual design purpose was just to make it so that players couldn't futz with Weapons Locating Radars.

Thanks, wasn't sure if I missed something in the manuals

Gonna play about to see what I can get them to do but I do like the idea of having 'NPC' allied formations operating independently
