Pay Attention to FUEL

Playing AI as Nationalists...I didn't realize until very recently that ground units use FUEL (for Vehicles); my WITP-AE bias was interfering, because in that game only ships and HI us fuel.

By early November 1936, I had to halt offensive operations in the entire Southwest of Spain (Estremadura, Andalusia, etc), because Fuel ran out, and I wasn't paying attention (apparently up north you have a little more slack, because El Ferrol/La Coruna starts with a pretty good stockpile). This snuck up on me, don't let it sneak up on you.

So, those of you playing Nationalists, you need a fuel plan from the Jump.

This is complicated by the fact that you start the game with exactly ONE operational tanker. There is another that badly needs repair; Day 1, that should be sent to San Fernando shipyard for repairs. (There are a couple small AO, but they are not very suitable for tanker ops).

That means using alot of AK/AKL for bulk FUEL operations.

The Canary Islands has some fuel, but production is limited; this is a fairly safe and easy source though

Kiel is pretty safe, but a long route, especially if you want to ship to Cadiz

Napoli is a good source, but transiting the Med is dangerous

'tis a problem.......

Save your fuel for your limited number of armoured units, switch your logistical trucks to horse drawn wagons. While they consume more supplies they don't use that precious fuel. It is a simple swap of the logistical units.

It is really necessary to save fuel very much.
Ranger is right.
And in addition, the nationalist fleet will gradually increase, exclusively with diesel ships.

Use AK ships to transport fuel, you simply have to...
(watch out for the withdrawals of German and Italian AKs, they will simply disappear even with fuel loaded)

AK ships for transporting liquid substances work a little differently than in AE.
They are able to load a relatively large volume of fuel.
It is like fuel in barrels. And that is why their loading takes many days, it is a kind of penalty.

In the nationalist system, do not forget to transport crude oil to the refinery in the Canary Islands. Otherwise, the refinery will stop working...

So, what happened to Texaco oil? Nationalists didn't have to worry about oil IRL. Definitely didn't have to ship from Germany or Italy (lol, that would be something).

It was still imported oil, so whether it comes from Germany, Italy, or Texas in the game system is immaterial, IMO.

So oil simply appears in Germany? I suppose there are no oilfields there.

The difference is history, matters to me, maybe not so much to you.

It was oil that was diverted from deliveries to Belgium and the Netherlands. My guess is that the developers did not want to add a USA off-map transit box. I can accept that oil being diverted from the low countries might have to originate in game from Kiel. It is also possible that it is depicted in game as part of the convoys that appear in Vigo.

Those convoys come in with fuel and not oil.

Crude oil appears in Spanish Guinea. This is represented by, let's say, purchases of oil for refineries.

It has to be imported to the Canary Islands.
This is about the third time I've written this...

Fuel for ships (purchases from Texaco etc.) is really represented by convoys that appear in Vigo.
