It seems similar to Uzabit post, but instead of defensive, in offensive.

A group of 4 MiGs ordered to engage Chinooks, only 1 of them will try to engage, while the other three follow a straight path.

Do you have a previous state of the scenario?
When I load the save I can see the behavior, but if I drop the targets and using auto attack, the units behave correctly.
Did you order an auto-attack, or manually assigned weapons to attack?

This was a scenario created by Transient.
I ordered auto engage to the group once you have located the helicopters, ordering also a low altitude and setting engage opportunities to yes, but probably this last one is not needed.
Depending on the result it may happen or not, but seems easy to reproduce.

I think this bug is still happening.
A group of Ospreys armed with miniguns (2 calibers), strafing gun selected to yes.
Ordered to attack a land target in support of landed Marines, they will separate in another direction in Engaged Offensive. Depending on the target and the direction of the group in the moment of attacking, the separation may be even in opposite direction. They also may enter the NFZ.
