I have a file send to me (me Germany turn 1) and I have put it in the SaveEmail folder. Both in Send and Play but I can't load it. When I played UV I had never played PBEM but I did not need my opponent to send me 10 emails trying to explain...man I feel stupid right now

Me to!

I had a prob with this first off, the reason may be KP was not installed under default path.

In my case it was under program files, try C\Matrix Games\Kp install, this solved my problem.

I have been too tired to update this but while a reinstall suddenly made the save files appear in the menu where one selects which PBEM files to load when I press load the following happens

"error: cannot load header #1"

So basically I can't play this game other than against the AI.

Try this, save the email files from your game to a floppy, then completely unistall and reinstall KP. Then just pop your email files into appropriate folders.

Worth a try...............

Header errors usually mean the PBEM files are corrupt or have been created in a different version number of KP compared to the game you are running.

Version numbers would only be different if you were playing a beta tester who might be playing with an earlier version.

There is only one retail version.

U2 and me are not beta tester. He simply can't open the save files I send him. He is also a long time gamer so I think he usually know how to use a save file. Anyways he is now banana again KP and we start a other game of UV on till the first patch pup up.

Oh well, I have no idea what is wrong, the pbem system works perfectly well in V1.00.

Cheers Chris.

I am sure that the header errors relate to different versions of KP. As a tester I have several incarnations of the game installed on my machine and I remember I used to get that error when I tried to load a PBEM game under the wrong version of the game that it was created under (for example Chris and my AAR that we are still playing is played under a beta version).

Neither of you were/are testers, so u shouldnt have pre-release versions of the game. I suspect one of you may be using the debug.exe version.

Reinstall the game proper and this should fix the problem.

I dont speak for SSG or Matrix, but as far as I know people shouldnt be circulating or using the debug.exe of the game, it was released for a specific purpose (to track a problem - as I understand it).

Im sure this is the problem.

Mario And U2 :

Could you tell me exactly what the version string printed on the screen, including any letters that are in capitals?

Thanks
