Upcoming Transition: WarPlan and WarPlan Pacific

Hello everyone,

I am writing to share some important news regarding the future of the WarPlan series.

As of July 1st 2026, the publishing agreement with Slitherine will conclude. At that time, I will be taking over full control of the game as an independent developer. This move is a strategic step to bring the titles under my own franchise alongside my other two current games, allowing for a unified development path for all my games moving forward.

What This Means for You

The only change involves the multiplayer infrastructure. Because the current system utilizes proprietary technology, I will be transitioning the game to my own independent multiplayer system this June.

Key details on the new system:

• Seam Purchase Only: WarPlan game series will no longer be sold by Slitherine/Matrix, only on Steam.

• A Simpler Approach: The new PBEM system is more streamlined and "classic" in its functionality.

• Finding Opponents: Unlike the current automated system, players will have to find their opponents. The new interface will require players to manually enter the email of both players. The game will automatically send the email to the next player. This is the same system used in my other two games.

• Community Support: I encourage everyone to join the Steam forums or Kraken Studios Discord channel. This will serve as our primary hub for players to organize games and meet opponents.

• Matrix Purchasers: If you own the Slitherine/Matrix version of the game you will still be able to use their multiplayer system. The Steam version will be the new version. The Slitherine/Matrix version will be called “WarPlan Legacy” and keep the old multiplayer system.

The Road Ahead

While the multiplayer transition represents a change in how matches are organized, bringing this game home to my own franchise ensures it remains a core part of my long-term development plans. There will be a new update around the time of the transition.

I want to thank the team at Slitherine for their partnership over the years, and I want to thank the players for your continued support as I take this next step in growing my independent studio.
