Bavar-373 #3229

Can one of you really smart guys please take a really quick look at the Bavar-373 #3229 to see if anything looks out of place?

Regardless of what scenario I place it in, it NEVER seems to be able to attack the incoming missile threat. When looking manually, the message provided always indicates that there is no Director capable of being able to conduct the attack.

I believe that it may be either possibly a communications issue, or it's a Band issue. (These are things that I have very little knowledge of.)

The Meraj-4 radar (E-Band) seems to have no problem tracking the incoming missile, but the Bavar-373 TTR (I-Band) can never seem to get a fire solution on the incoming missile. (Note: I don't know much about bands, but I did see that these two are different, if that matters.)

In any case, a quick glance by a knowledgeable game player should be able to determine if anything is out of place. Hopefully, it's just missing a component that can be easily added.

(Edit: This may not mean anything, but when you bring up the unit and look at it, it indicates that the Sayyad-4 is the missile, and the Maximum Speed is 3450kts. But, if you click on the Sayyad-4, then you will see that the Target Speed is 0-5443 kts. If these two numbers are related, then there is a mismatch. If not, then this information is not relevant.)

Thanks

Ballistic missiles?

They cannot destroy them.

According to several sources, the Bavar-373 is supposed to be Iran's version of the S-300. Their stats are very similar.

In the game, the S-300 has no problem shooting at the Israeli Golden Horizon ballistic missiles. It does have a low success rate, but they do shoot.

The Bavar-373, on the other hand, doesn't shoot at all. In fact, I seem to even have trouble having it shoot at regular missiles.

That's why I think that there might be something that's either missing, or some rating that is possibly mismatched.

But, not knowing exactly what to look for, it's pretty difficult to determine the cause, at least for me.

Perhaps there is nothing wrong at all. That's why I figured that I'd bring this topic up to the experts.

If the incoming missiles are coming in low, it's possible there inside of the Bavars OODA cycle. Also wheres the save/scen file? You've played the game for awhile, you should know some of these things by now.

A test, Israeli F-15I launched several AGM-88 HARM missiles to a Bavar-373 unit.

And was able to destroy the missiles and the AC.

The Sayyad-4 is not ABM capable in the db.

There are many S-300 in the db, some are ABM capable while others not.

Nikel: Where does it indicate that the Bavar-373 is not capable against ballistic missiles in the game? If so, then that's the answer. Several sources indicated that in real life it should be, although with an 88k foot ceiling it sure doesn't afford the shooter much time. Thanks for the help. The "not capable" likely solves it.

It is in the properties of the weapon it launches, the Sayyad-4

This is one of the S-300 (weapon), that is ABM capable.

Nikel,

Thank you so much for the explanation.

The non-ABM designation explains it all. The Baver-373 was designed to be a copy of the S-300, and the S-300 was allegedly ABM-capable, so I figured that the Bavar-373 would be ABM-capable as well. I guess that was a wrong assumption.

On related topic, the Rezonans radar appears to be the only Space-capable radar in their inventory in database. Do you know if all of those were destroyed in the 12-Day war? If so, then that would explain why the Golden Horizon missiles were able to strike the leadership like they did on the first day of this war.

Thanks again for your help. You solved the problem.

The Gadhir, that is the Iranian copy or derivate of the Rezonans, this was also discussed before if you remember.

At least 6 according to the ISW.
