Resolution Problem

Hi
I just bought a new screen Samsung Syncmaster 192v 19inch tft .
but UV will only work in the low resolution setting ( horrible ) within that game otherwise the screen is all wobbly , like waves . This is most irritating and defeats the object of the better screen . Has anyone got any advice as to what can be done f anything I have windows xp 1.8 processor and a pretty good graphics card nividia g force .The driver is updated .
On my previous screen 17inch I could run at the higher resolution ok . This however is driving me crazy. All my other programs and games run fine a th the highest resolution , any help much appreciated .
