Now force witp to run using NVIDIA

Situation is I have an all-in-one with both integrated and NVIDIA MX330. Up until this point WitP has happily used the integraded graphics but recent software change to my maching have resulted in the machine running at high core temperatures, WitP AE only exacserbated it. I could of course remove the sotware but I need it, Norton 360 by the way.
The solution i've taken is to reduce the pwoer usage is to reduce power usage and virtual memory plus stop other stuff running in the background. The problem is now WitP AE is slow to update the map, especially if I tab out etc.
I thought as it uses the integrated graphic I could us the NVIDIA, with it's buit in memory instead but I cn't get it to work! Any ideas?

I think solution is to force WitpAE to use only one core.
Like -cpu4 switch

Game doesn't care about graphics stuff, but it'll hog your CPU if you let it.

So everything was smooth sailing until you installed Norton 360 and now your system runs hot?

I don't think it's just Norton, been using it for some years, comes free with my internet package. It seem that just about any software theses days wants to hog the computer, one ap ids Ok but when you get 5 or 6 things go south and I think that is the main problem. Two other aps I use is ccleaner and adobe reader both of which have changed how they work. Ccleaner v7 is now a service for instance.
Nortons has something called a software analyser which when you look it up is supposedly helping them help you etc etc. But why is it there. The whole object of antivirus software etc in to prevent them getting into you computer though and input device. If it's doing it's job correctly they can't get in, and if they can't get in there's no reason to analyse already existing software. The biggest problem is none of this unwanted staff can be turned off.

Noe of this help me get the game to run under NVIDIA. It might do nothing but then again it might but won't know until I try it.

This is how to do it by Dimitris.
The explanations are for Command, but for WitP-AE it is the same.

Regarding CCleaner, I also use it and did not like the changes in v7. So downgraded to the previous version.

A simple but powerful pdf and documents reader? Sumatra.

3.5.2 is better than the last 3.6

I also use an old version of Foxit reader, more than 10 years old, fast in a modern computer and opens all the pdf files without problems.
The last version of a software is not always the best, there is a tendency in bloating it.

No idea what that is, I have very few games that require a fast graphics card consequently my knowledge is minimal other than integrated.

1. Look for Device Manager. Control Panel>>Hardware & Sound>>Devices & Printers>>Device Manager>>Display Adaptors.
2. Click on the arrow.
3. Right click on your NVIDIA driver.
4. Click on Enable Device.
That's all there is to it. I hope this helps....GP

Is your computer a laptop? Other players have reported issues with getting a laptop to work with the game.
Trying to force too high a resolution could also be a problem.
It would help if you post your complete path to the game and switch string from the Properties - Target part of your game shortcut.
Also, the number of overlays you have active can boost the workload enormously - things like range circles, search zones and weather really tax the scrolling of the map.

Yes being using. The control panel using it and if you view the NVIDIA GPU activity ap it tells me it is when the panel is open. Close the panel and it disappears. Witp AE never appears and I've carried out all suggestions etc. I don't think it's capable of being run by NVIDIA.

It's an all-in-one, basically adesktop with laptop tech. Please note I run the game on my laptop and do not have any issues.
Reolution, switches etc have not changed in years, switches almost since there inception. The problem I've got started within the past three months so as I said in a previous post it's something I've got running in the back ground causing the problem.
My idea was I could move the graphics to the NVIDIA card to reduce CPU load and memory but it appears the game somply will nor work with it amd I have tried all the suggestions so I'm stuck with reducing the power to 90%.

Could well be but I think, as I said before, it's more likely a combination of things with the penchant for aps to get more and more complicated, doing stuff you don't need or want for that matter, like Norton, ccleaner etc.
