Question about Flight Planner

Good Day all.

I was wondering if there was a way to add a check-box, to the Mission Editor if you want to use or NOT to use the Flight Plan Editor.

The reason I ask, is because I am setting up scenarios for myself to improve my knowledge of the tools the Devs have given us in this game, specifically the Flight plan editor. So what I have done is created a CAP mission for my fighters, and as you need to use reference points to created a mission, I added 4 of them in this instance, and then checked the box for the flight to fly "random in the area" for the movement pattern.

Of course this was easy to do in years past before the Flight Plan editor was designed, the planes had no choice but to fly randomly, as long as you didn't tell them to use repeatable loop. But I have noticed that even if you tell them to fly random in the area, they still make use of the automatically generated flight plan, and thus, the pattern is no longer random.

Now, I am aware that what you can do for the side you control, is catch the flight before it takes off and delete the flight plan, so that now the aircraft don't have a flight plan to follow, and will then default to either continuous loop or random pattern depending on what is selected in the mission settings. If the option to disable flight plans was given when setting up missions, you don't have to do what I was just referring to.

I am NOT being critical of the Flight Plan editor, I LOVE IT and have always wanted to have this feature, even if I don't fully understand how it works fully, I am looking at various tutorials to help me learn.

Thank you all.
Scott

May you post the scenario?

I can. as you can see if you open the scenario in editor mode and look at the OpFor CAP, missions, I have a BARCAP and NEAR cap for two different Air-to-Air groups on patrol, and what I would like to see happen is the CAP missions for the OpFor do a random patrol, but because the Flight planner is activated prior to the launch time, the aircraft no longer fly "random" because they are following the waypoints of the Flight Planner.

Yes I am very aware that I am sending Mig-23 and Mig-29 against F-22 configured for air-to-air. I never said I wanted this to be a FAIR fight for the OpFor. LOL.

I've never played with the F-22 and F-35. When playing this myself I had a REALLY cool event take place that I had never seen before, while testing this. I had one pair of F-22 inbound and another pair of F-35 configured in air-to-air, and they were a little further away from the OpFor CAP defenders, and the F-22 ID'd a target but when they did, the F-35 though further away was also in range to launch, so the F-22 fired their AIM-120's and thus illuminated the targets, well the F-35 also fired, but because the F-22 was illuminating, they didn't have to do so themselves and their AIM-120's hit the target while being datalinked by the F-22's. Can't lie it was fun as hell to watch happen, and I never expected it.

I think that you did something to generate the flightplans :)

I deleted the missions, recreated them and the fighters are moving randomly.

Okay, awesome, and good to know that it is my mistake, but for the life of my I don't know what it is that I would be doing to generate the flight plans, maybe there is a box that I have checked somewhere that allows them to be created automatically?

Thank you for looking into it, I appreciate your help Nikel!

If you add a Take off time or a TOS, the create or update flightplans button is not greyed out anymore.

They are created even though you did not click on the button, bug?

Okay, I will try running again without adding either of those and see if I get what I am hoping for. Thank you again for your assistance.

No, that's WAD. If you add any of those, FP will be generated.
