Fight Through 2nd Round Search Bug.
(1) I encountered this bug last night and have posted it, along with the game file, in, Private Development Forums -> World In Flames Development->Bug Reports 8.0.0.1.
(2) This appears to be an obscure bug; but, would have had "significant" negative impact if not "worked" around.
(3) The bug is for a second (or later) round of naval combat against a target (in this case IJN CA & CV) that's successfully intercepted, decides to fight through & the naval combat continues beyond the initial intercept round.
(4) For the initial round, CPs should not & do not affect the search rolls.
(5) However; if the naval combat continues past this initial round, it should.
(6) That is, for example, subs in the 2-box should (also) find an enemy with CPs at in the sea area on a search D10=3.
(7) In my case they did NOT.
(8) After a fairly involved 1st (intercept) round of combat I was frustrated by this because 3 subs that should have been included in the naval combat on D10=3 (in fine weather) were NOT & this would have significant affected that and following rounds of naval combat.
(9) My fix, was to reduce the US search roll by 1, that is D10=2 (instead of the actual 3).
(10) I then proceeded; but kept a mental check NOT to use the extra surprise point.
(11) The reason I posted this after posting the bug report in the private development forum was to pass this bug and workaround along to others.
(12) I'm not saying this bug won't get fixed; but given the activity I've seen (or lack there of) over in the MWIF private development forum ... I just it might be good to pass along this bug and workaround in case anyone runs into such.
