I've played UV, WITP and WITP ae for years. I understand the naval and airplane part of WoS. But the LCU part still has mysteries. (after looking at manual also) . Can I turn a hex full of regiments into a division? I understand dump puts the troops on foot. I have tried the merge button with no luck. What about the attach to new HQ? Shpuld I do this to every LCU that isnt attached? Who is the lead commander of a hex full of regiments/units? I understand how to move units on trains. What does the locomotive icon represent? How many units in a hex is too many? Most of the question involve those buttons on the bottom portion of the LCU unit box. Thanks for any help here of an old fan

Click on the UNIT ORGANIZATION button. That will bring up the Regiments, Brigades, and Divisions that unit belongs to. The unit will be highlighted in GREEN. You need to combine all the sub-units in a hex to get them combined to a parent. You can't combine just a bunch of random units.

Generally, you don't need to attach to a new HQ. So, no, you don't need to do that. I am not sure on the lead commander question.

On MERGE, generally this is valid only to/from RSV units; you'll need to read up on those, that is new from WITP_AE

The LOCOMOTIVE ICON units are RR Units; notice they only contain Railcars. They assist with rail transport in a wide area. Generally you don't need to move them, unless they are in danger of being capture.

Not 100% sure on overstacking, haven't gotten there yet

I would play vs. the AI and just click on everything to see what it does (seriously)

You should decide whether you want to play a strictly historical version. Or a much looser version where you can combine or connect LCUs in other ways.
In a strictly historical version you don't have to do anything with the units. Just connect them to higher commands. And thus defeat AI that doesn't do that.

The limit per hex is 40,000 men, which is about 3 full divisions.
It works with much higher numbers, but it is penalized on the outcome of battles and also by the consumption of supplies.
