I think Hubert and Bill should stop overdoing it on the whiskey: I bought War in Europe to play a PC wargame, and I ended up with some weird thing that looks like a PC board game played over 48 turns lasting 1941 to 1945 , and it doesn't even cover all of Europe—I only have East Europe and Russia... I’m really disappointed with the game, there is no any hex grid and and the pieces aren’t normal size. What did I miss during setup? Please, help !
The worst part is that I can't even see the Russians—they always attack by surprise. At first, in '41, it's super easy; I cut through them like butter, but after that it's a nightmare: the front line advances toward Berlin like a ghostly shadow, and I can't push it back...
Perhaps could I find some informations here :

The system will work like a PC Boardgame
1 turn = 1 month
Scale :
Army groups (ultra strategic scale, with ultra large counters)
Total duration of the campaign : 48 turns (22 June 1941 to May 1945)
Look of map is not definitive, it will be better and improved (I use here old files of my SC1 mod but definitive graphs will change)
Map is ultra simplified like a boardgame (no rails, no roads, minimal reliefs and forests, but some invisible files graphs will be used, not seen by player)
All will be made to be able to play the entire Russian campaign 1941-1945 in some hours
This PC boardgame will be playable only Axis human vs Soviet AI, with fast AI
If this PC boardgame does interest plyers, I will do a version Human Soviet vs Axis AI
SC3 system (game + editor + scripts) is really the ultimate perfect tool to create your own games

Units of the mod : ultra simplification of OOB
A normal size counter has been aded, to allow to see difference of scale with vanilla system
Map grounds will be modified, on image graphs are just provisary (in work)
Red line will have place in east, placement on this image is provisary (and the front line will be a little bit red dark)
Soviet units will be extremly dangerous : 4 types => SOVIET, SOVIET*,SOVIET**,SOVIET*** and SOVIET PARTISANS
But... always invisible : no any visual appreciation will be possible, the soviet front line will be a "dangerous ghost" and you will have to push this red line eastward (if you can

)
You will have 48 turns to win in the East (or to flee to Berlin

)

View of units size in "out zoom" view
National color ground is just provisary (in test work)
The "out zoom" view in the mod does use the "normal size" counters
The "in zoom"view" in mod does use extra large counters
The vanilla "out zoom" size counters (little) are not used in the mod
This system allow to play with a few units on map (only army scale or Pz group scale)
To modelize capacities of armies to operate in large sectors of the front, units of the mod will have special range action (2 or 3 invisible "hex" : with this system, a army will be able to cover a zone of 3 x 3 x 3 "invisible hex")
Soviet units are always invisible, but very vicious (with special welk's settings

)
Only the moving red line front is visible
At start, in 1941, invisible soviet units will be "soviet", but after 1942 they will become soviet* and soviet**, and in 1944 they vill become soviet***. Good luck for Axis side...
On this image, Pz group counters are false (mechanized), they will be rectified in Pz armors counters

Probably the definitive look for map, red front line and Axis counters
Placement of units is just for testing work, not historical
I will see if roads need to be erased or not

Outzoom view : in this zoom level, counters are a little bit less transparent than in the "in zoom view", to be better visible

HQ attached units appears in green light (HQ are "ARMY GROUP HQ" level (North, center, South + Rum. Army group)
Placement is not historical, just for test.

I know that this way to play the game like a boardgame will not interest lot of players, but if some are interested, I have to calibrate the time scale :
What would prefer players interested :
24 turns (1 turn = 2 months) = Short length game
36 turns (1 turn = 1,5 month = Medium length game
48 turns (1 turn = 1 month) = Long length game
I need to choice that before to begin the parameters work, because general parameters + parameters of axis and soviet units have to be adapted for total length of boardgame
The goal is to build a "solo boardgame" that could be playable in 1 or 2 evenings (if 24 or 36 turns), and 2 or 3 evenings (if 48 turns).
SCALE UNITS:
HQ (XXXXX)= Army groups HQ
ARMY (XXXX) = Army
Pz GROUP (XXX) = Corps
SS GROUP (XXX) = Corps
SECURITY UNIT (XX) = Divisions
AIR (XXXX) : Luftflotte

After some tests, conclusion is that 36 turns are needed, with 1 turn = 1 month
I modified lenght of the game : 36 months, from 22 June 1941 to 22 June 1944 (East front has no great interest after June 1944)
Here is the historical start placement for East war front ("War of dots mod")
It may be curious to not see soviet units, but in game, it's really funny because you never know from where comes the danger, it gives more suspense, only the soviet front line does move
