Suggestion - display previously spotted units on map

Currently, the user interface (in Grognard mode) will only display enemy units if they are currently spotted by one or more friendly units. However, in many cases it is useful to be able to view recently spotted units on the map when making decisions. How feasible would it be to introduce a feature where displayed units can be filtered by either "current only" or "spotted within X minutes before" (potentially with multiple durations into the past) to the existing interface to address this?

If one of the "previous units" options were active, this would likely require visual differentiation in some form between currently spotted units and "stale" contacts. This could potentially be captured as an overlay similar to the existing ones for LoS, spottability, etc.

Not exactly what you're asking for but in case you didn't already know: you can look at section D of the "Enemy SITREP" tab in the Intelligence staff report. This gives you a list of lost contacts seen within the last half hour, with hyperlinked coordinates.

This type of fading contact on the map has been discussed a few times, dating back to pre-Southern Storm days. Mainly for spectrum contacts like radars and HQ comms, but it could also push into lost visuals. We do, as noted above, have a list of lost contacts on the intel screen, with time and location. Using a map overlay during the orders phase might be more feasible than trying to have counters on the map fade over time, since we are not coded to handle cloned units and to cover the additional overhead of updating them as time progresses. I'll JIRA this for the team to review. JIRA-7053.

I screenshot the heck out of every replay to avoid forgetting spotted units.
