Formation Reports and reasonable knowledge

Let's say there's the 1st Division Formation;

Units in Formation; (Artillery set to not Reconstitute)
1st Div HQ
A Regiment
B Regiment
C Regiment
Z Artillery Regiment

In battle, Regiment C and Artillery Z are eliminated, and now both show as "Eliminated" in the Formation Report. Regiment C returns 10 turns later short of equipment and starts to rebuild, How do I know that I shouldn't expect Artillery Z to return? Shouldn't it say "dissolved" so that a player doesn't wait for something not coming?

It won't appear on the reinforcement report till it has been rebuilt. If it's allowed to reconstitute, whether it gets rebuilt depends upon the availability of equipment that it needs. That equipment may take many turns to sum up to enough to rebuild.

My comment isn't about the mechanics of program, it's more about about reflecting institutional decisions of a Force a designer builds into the system. Its a longer timeframe scenario comment.

In the example I cited the scenario designer is using the game's mechanics to either; not replace obsolete limited availability equipment, or, a Force's longer term organizational strategy to remove the artillery regiment from all divisions.

The second issue can be addressed in the designer's notes and event news. Technically the artillery regiment was not "Eliminated" but rather the replacement equipment begins to be put elsewhere in the organization as the Force changes it's structure, but the Formation report will always say "Eliminated". In a longer scenario a player might be waiting for the rebuilding of the artillery regiment before putting the Formation back in the front line. There's a lot going on under the TOAW hood that a player can miss.

It's a housekeeping thing; any equipment available now or in future turns for the unit? If yes, "Eliminated", if not "Deactivated". That shows the behind the scenes Unit Replacement Priority for the unit to the player.

But that can't be determined unless the unit is denied reconstitution. Otherwise, whether there is ever enough equipment to rebuild is dependent upon how the game tumbles out. There could be huge replacements on the tracks, but huge demands for them from other units in the field. There could be a dump of equipment from disbanded units. There could be equipment returned to the pools via combat, even if there were zero on the tracks.

Am I missing something? These Mechanized Corps stop appearing in the OOB when all three are eliminated, but the Formation Report does not let the player know the artillery units in these two formations are not returning when they are eliminated.

Am I wrong in that if there is enough equipment around to populate the eliminated Unit they will return (reconstitute)?

See why I call it a housekeeping thing - I cannot tell which eliminated Units are not returning in Formations that have Units that do reconstitute.
