Performance degradation when switching to "Steam Workshop" tab with large number of subscribed workshop items

I'm getting significantly worse performance on the 1852 beta than on the current release version (1825.15). Both map panning smoothness and UI responsiveness are worse. The UI is especially bad - even dragging windows around is noticeably jittery, and more complex UI elements like the doctrine window and the mission planner take 5-10 seconds to load, making it kind of a pain to do anything. This manifests even in a completely empty scenario with all map layers turned off. The sim itself runs fine, my pulse times are still very low. The problem is purely graphical/UI related.

My specs are:
GPU: RTX 3060ti 8GB
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D
RAM: 48 GB 3600MHz DDR4
Game is installed on an M.2 SSD

I've already tried the usual stuff, messed with basically every combination of map settings, ensured my GPU is being used and high performance modes are enabled, updated drivers, disabled all overlays, ran with different high-DPI settings, different monitor refresh rates, did a full reinstall, cleared the game's caches (I used to have unit selection lag too, this fixed that), etc. No dice with any of it.

As a side note, I also found the aggressive map loading option turns itself off immediately. Not sure if that's intended behavior (does it detect that my connection can't keep up or something? it should be very fast) or not - it happens to me in the release version as well.

Is this running on Steam or as standalone ?

It is also a Ryzen CPU like in the case of AreusF testing the benchmark.

Seconded. Having the same issue running standalone. Had to rollback to the previous version as it was almost unplayable.

Has this been fixed in B1859 ?

I think the problem was more acute for Ryzen CPUs, so some people with them should answer this.

For me, 1859 is better than 1852 (see benchmarking thread)

I have this problem too 9800X3D, loading of missions takes really long time and map panning smoothness and UI responsiveness is superslow. Problem persist even on 1859

I am sorry, but we need more information.

Problem was fixed for me with B1859. Thanks for the quick fix!

Something really strange is happening...

I uninstalled CMO, deleted everything and installed again, patched with 1852 and then 1859. When I start CMO, it works like it should. As long as I stay in scenarios tab, UI behaves normally and fast without any lag, same goes for scrolling down mission list, mission loading and playing missions even on fastest setting - normal short lags. But as soon as I click on tab to show and play Steam Workshop scenarios CMO instantly starts lagging, scrolling is slow, loading is slow and map panning and zoom have huge lag. Pulse Times are same
I have community scenario pack installed with few another missions from workshop. Is there some log from CMO I can post?

9800X3D, RX 7800XT, 32Gb RAM, Samsung 990 PRO M2

Here is vid of problem but play it without sound I recorded even music from my player...

Is there some log I can post?

The GPU usage % is lower?

The exception log is located in the logs folder. Post the one from today for the devs.

I can confirm that this happens on Intel CPUs as well. Everything runs fine with local scenarios. As soon as a I access Workshop, even if I cancel it, the system picks up noticeable lag. Have to reboot CMO to clear it.

Nikel yeah from AMD overlay it look like GPU usage is lower.

For what it's worth, Steam is working on a Beta version of their Workshop. I'd assume you could opt in, or out. Either way, if Steam is working on it I'd lean on that being the issue first.

YMMV

Sorry I was on stable branch for a while, last night tested beta and it is still a problem in B1892

On my end at least performance hasn't regressed since I said it was fixed in B1859, and Steam Workshop lag isn't a problem for me on B1892.

Edit: okay nevermind, apparently I just never had the workshop menu open for long enough or something. I left it open while typing this out and my game is definitely running worse now, even upon reloading a blank scenario.

Just to be clear: The performance degradation happens only as long as the workshop tab is the active one? If you switch to another tab the problem goes away ?
