I want to use the scenario editor to edit the FITE scenario. But when I start the editor and want to open this scenario it won’t show this scenario or any other for that matter. What am I doing wrong?

You're not in the right folder.

Make sure you're updated to the latest version.

Well, I'm out of guesses. Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing (like I've done, here)?

TOAW, like a lot of modern games, lives in two different locations: one for the core game files and another for user content, which is good for the 1-2% of people who share games with multiple users on one PC, but annoying for the rest of us.

Anyway, the Scenario Editor defaults to the user path, which by default doesn't contain any scenarios. You'll have to navigate to the other path.

For me, the path I need is here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\The Operational Art of War IV
The scenario editor will default to a path like this C:\Users\yourname\Documents\My Games\The Operational Art of War IV\Scenarios

For some reason Bob has his scenarios in the user path; not sure how this happened but it's not default behaviour. This is irrelevant when playing as the game combines both folders' contents when you're choosing a new scenario to play.

Sheer will, that's how.

I have them in multiple places. The above is just one of them. We need to know what path he is seeing.

Suggest you give this method a try as a solution, it works on my computer when editing. As an example, you want to edit scenario XXX:

First, select “New Game” and open scenario XXX. After it opens, immediately close the scenario. This act creates a default path for the TOAW engine pointed at the XXX folder.
Second, select “Edit Scenario” and the editor should default to the folder holding scenario XXX. Edit as desired.
Third, and this is the really good part, select “Save Scenario As” and TOAW will default to the folder where scenario file XXX lives. Save, replace or rename as desired.

The good part is that when you go to save an edited scenario TOAW automatically defaults to the last folder where a “played” scenario lives. Unless XXX is the last scenario to be played, the default folder may, or may not, be where you want to save your edits. More than once, I have been negligent and saved edited scenario files in the folder of the last scenario I played, which was not my intended save location.

Hope this helps, Regards

Yes, this is your user path. You need to navigate to the install path, which will be somewhere under program files.
