Depressing Kill Loss Ratio needs to change

I'm currently in an MP game and I accidentally annexed a minor that wasn't connected to my border. I had no clue having a minor as a client would cause me to annex them, I almost always encounter raiders and the like and you can't do diplomacy with them (creates a pretty boring and repetitive game ngl but diplomacy in wargames is always bad so fine). I thought I'd just go to war with whoever attacked the minor, which is what the strat card says fyi so that's a suggestion to change that to make it more clear what happens. Or give us the chance to choose whether we want to annex them or not.
Regardless I annexed them, it spawned in tons of bad militia and then they all died in the war and I couldn't do anything about it because I didn't border the minor. They had no resources to build anything or recruit anything and so I lost 20,000 troops and killed nothing. Now my virtues are permanently screwed because I have an extremely low kill/loss ratio - 1:7. That's not going to change anytime soon in the game. I thought the virtue loss was tied to the short or long term casualty ratio. That makes sense to me and it would be fine. But I've been told it's game wide. So for the entire rest of the game I'm going to be losing virtues until I increase my kill ratio which isn't going to happen anytime soon. It just ruins the game. I don't understand why it's permanent when you already have a system built to take into account losses in the game. You're already punished for losing a war. And ok you want this to affect virtues. Why not. Make it use the same system. As it stands right now even if I undergo a rebellion or revolution or change my political system I'm never going to recover my virtues because the loss ratio is so high and I'm just so far from being able to fix that with the current game situation. Anything that causes virtues to rise will immediately be countered by this permanent decrease from the game-wide kill ratio.
If your short term casualty ratio is too high then you lose virtues. If your long term casualty ratio is too high you lose virtues. If both are too high you lose even more. When those ratios naturally drop is a war ends the you stop losing virtues. There is no reason it should be a permanent thing. It should be temporary just as the casualty ratios for pop happiness are temporary. This makes it so it still affects things and can cause you to slow down in development but it removes the possibility of it just outright killing a game. Unless you continue to lose wars but that's just how things go sometimes and the game ends anyways.
