What do you think of this idea?

An idea for wargame came to me, though I doubt ONLY me. The idea would be to have a Grand strategy game, with provinces like say, HOI, that, with every advance, would create(optionally) a savefile for a completely different Operational-level game, played on a hexgrid, setting up an operational battle. You play Grand Strategy until you decide to immerse yourself into an Operation level game. It's just a thought. Something that would appeal to me. Anyone else?

Absolutely.
And if you could play a portion of the Operational Battle at the Tactical level, then it would scratch just about every gaming itch.
All optional of course, so you could play as much as you wanted at any one scale.

Exactly. And the idea having yet a 3rd tactical level is not overambitious really. What we're talking about is the creation of savefiles in one game that can work as scenario setup files in a different game.

I know few games that mix different levels of strategy, tactics, and/or whatever between:
Close Combat series (some games anyway)
Age of Wonders series
Heroes of Might & Magic series
Total War series
Lords of the Realm series
Knights of honor
Rules of Engagement & Breach 2
