When I played PacWar....

I think I set up a save right after Pearl Harbor and played several scenarios from there so as to not have to do all the things you have to do on the initial turn.

Does anyone do that with WITP-AE so as to save time and not have to go through the initial "setup" or are you so fast, you don't worry about it anymore?

I'm sure some have. One drawback to this approach is that you're stuck with the same December 7th attack results every time you start from that save. Sometimes you wanna freshen things up for a new (and long) game, especially if that initial attack was a complete bust for Japan or an utter catastrophe for the Allies. I suppose you could save a set-up from the December 8th (historical result) scenario but that can get stale too. The other drawback is that you don't get to watch that dramatic and traumatic first day unfold. The biggest downside is that you'll likely be stuck playing against the same AI script every time since that is chosen at the initial game start and not after.

You would also be stuck with the same version of the AI for every game.
