Name Generator Spreadsheet for Scenario Designers (American, British, Japanese, Chinese, Soviet)

I put together a simple Excel‑based name generator while rebuilding several leader pools, and thought other scenario
designers might find it useful.
What it does:
It generates one random name at a time by combining a de-duped list of names from the leaders tab for each nation.
- a surname list
- a given‑name list
Format matches the WitP leader editor:
- Surname, Given
No macros or scripts — just basic Excel formulas.
Included name sets
- American
- British (includes Australia, NZ, CW, BR Indian Army and Canada)
- Japanese
- Chinese
- Soviet
20‑character limit checker:
Since the WitP editor caps leader names at 20 characters, each tab includes a small counter so you can confirm
the generated name fits without being cut off.
Why it’s useful
Helpful for anyone who needs:
- additional leaders
- replacement leaders
- alt‑history officers
- culturally appropriate random names
- quick single‑name generation without duplicates
How to use
Pick a nation tab → F9 → copy the generated name into the editor.
