SIPRES counter mod not working for Soviets

I just got this game from the matrix site, and when I include the SIPRES NATO counter mod from the mods menu it doesn't apply to the soviets. Has a fix for this been found?
I searched and found a post about removing the files from the Major_4 folder under bitmaps for the mod, but when I do that it reverts every country to the standard counters
Not sure what else to try to get those to load.
